Park Forest Pre-School

Club supports the Park Forest Pre-School

The State College Sunrise Rotary Club supports the Park Forest Pre-School with reading books for the students.

Each week the club asks local people to come and present on a community topic. To honor the presenter(s) the club donates a book. Each book is marked with the name and date of each presenter.

State College Sunrise Rotary Club’s project coordinator, Dan Hendey, assisted by club president Cliff Wurster Donated 30 age-appropriate children’s books to the Park Forest Preschool.  For nearly eight years, the club has been donating a book for each program speaker at each of its weekly meetings.  A donor card from Sunrise Rotary recognizing the speaker and date of presentation is affixed inside the cover of each book. Park Forest Preschool sponsored by the Park Forest Methodist Church, is a nonprofit, tuition-free school for two, three, and four-year-old children from low-income families. Friday morning, March 19, 2021 Rotary is a community service organization that identifies needs in the local community and finds way to reach out with meaningful support.  Susan Hills, the Preschool Director, said, “The children love the colorful pictures and fun stories provided by these books.  Having these available at school and to take home, are typically their first introduction to books and early reading skills development.  The school is so grateful for the many years of support by the State College Sunrise Rotary Club.”
